whether to fill lp tank before winter storage

Hi, I couldn't find any info when I did a search of previous questions. I am getting ready to winterize and store my class c for the winter. should I fill the lp tank full before i store it or leave it half full. I would like to have it full in case we need to live in it again this winter if we have an ice storm like last year.
thanks for the help. chuck

parking rv on a hill = loss of refrigerant ??

Hi, I couldn't find the info I need. I will have to park my rv on an incline of about 20-25 degrees for 3-4 days. if i shut the refrigerator off will that be ok or will the refrigerant leak out? i have a 1992 model class c domitec?? that runs on either lp or electric.
i couldn't find any info in my search of the forum.
thanks chuck

how to put vinegar into hot water tank only

thought I understood the plumbing to and from the hot water tank, but now I'm not sure. The hot water smells- cold is ok. I have been using clorox flush through the fresh water tank on a regular bsis. Just realized that I'm supposed to be draining the hot water tank every so often when not in use and I have not been doing that.
If I drain the hot water tank by keeping the water pump off and opening the hot water drain valve and opening the pressure relief lever, how can I put vinegar into just the hot water tank?
the pressure relief lever has a hose type outlet on it - can it hook up a hose and put some of the vinegar water into the tank that way or do I need to put it into the fresh water tank and run it through the heater via the water pump?
also how do i locate the anode to see if it is ok? I dont have a book about the water heater.
thanks chuck

why can't back up with a toad

I keep reading not to try to back up with a class c pulling a toad and wondered why. does it have to do with the towed car or with the difficulty in backing up the combination of rv and car?
I recently "accidently" pulled into a dead end street where I couldn't pull around to get out - I could have tried to back the car& rv back about 10 feet to get back on the main road, but instead unhooked and backed each up separately then hooked up again.
= big pain to do that, esp with a lot of neighbors who came out to see what was going on. thanks

replacement battery for marine deep cycle

Hi, My marine deep cycle battery has died and when I went to replace it I was offered a combination battery called "marine deep cycle and starting" battery.
will this work just as well as a plain deep cycle battery for the house battery on my class c? thanks. chuck

RE: house battery goes dead when rv hooked up to electric

Hope someone is still monitoring this section. I've been offline for a week.
I unhooked the negative cable from the battery, left the rv plugged into shore power and the 12 volt lights still worked - so does this mean the converter is ok? as far as I can tell the fuses are ok.
I checked the battery c a voltmeter and it read somewhere between 11-12 volts both when not hooked up to shore power and when hooked up to shore power. ( the engine battery read 12 volts). I put a trickle battery charger on the house battery and within 1 minute it read fully charged. the fluid level is ok.
I tried to use the house battery to start the generator and it would not (Note: when I do this the LP detector starts beeping until I reset it - don't know what this means). when I push the button to tap into the engine battery, the generator starts easily.
Does this mean that most likely the house battery is bad?? I plan on taking it to Autozone to have it tested tomorrow.
thanks again for the advice. chuck

RE: overnights in truckstops

Hi, just a note about one experience we had at an overnight stay at a truck stop in WI.
A man approached in the early am as i was opening the door to take our dog out and he waved & yelled at me to come with him - that a trucker had just won the lottery and was celebrating by giving out $50 dollar bills to anyone who stopped by his truck. he grabbed my arm and started pulling me along to an area behind the gas station/store.
I may be from a small town, but even i figured out something was wrong so I pulled away and got back in the rv fast. chuck

house battery goes dead when rv hooked up to electric

Hi, I am confused about when the house battery is the source of power to something when the rv is hooked up to 120v electric power.
the problem is that when my rv is hooked up to power for 2 weeks (so my visiting kids can use it), the house battery eventually goes dead. I'm trying to figure out what is draining it - would the lp gas monitor still be powered by the house battery even tho hooked up to 120v power. what else could be a drain?
thanks for any help. chuck

RE: new to calgon

"As a laundry additive, Calgon water softener is in demand only in areas with hard water. If you live in an area with soft water, it will be difficult to find. Stores just won't stock an item that doesn't sell. Many of the past threads on this topic have included a site for ordering it online."
-I think I must be in one of those areas, no store in my area seems to have it or heard of it. Just after I posted my questions I found some of the posts tellingt how to order it on line. thanks!
